How Clean Is Your House star Aggie MacKenzie has revealed she and co-star Kim Woodburn did not get on.

The pair starred in Channel 4 show How Clean Is Your House? for six years and MacKenzie has now confessed that the high levels of "conflict and friction" eventually made working together impossible.

She told GB News: "I think we're chalk and cheese, and so different from each other, but I think that was one of the reasons why it worked.

"Because of the friction there was between us, it created this energy and so we knew how to be in front of the camera. I mean, most of it was ad lib. We had an idea of the storyline, but we just kind of made it up as we went along.

"Kim is not the most straightforward person. I'm somebody who just likes to get on and Kim had a very difficult beginning, a difficult childhood and I think in her home, growing up, there was lots of conflict, many rows and she spent a lot of her childhood in a children's home.

"And I think for her, it's kind of normal to have conflict and I think that if things are calm and easy, I think she found that quite difficult. That's not me, I like it easy-peasy. There were lots of highs, and a few lows."

She admitted that eventually their conflict became too much and they couldn't work together any longer.

MacKenzie said: "We did it for a while and it became really I mean, it was very stressful. We did it for six years, and that's a long time."

How Clean Is Your House? - which saw the duo visit dirty homes and clean them up - aired on Channel 4 for six series between 2003 and 2009.

MacKenzie, 67, took part in Dancing On Ice in 2008 and Celebrity MasterChef in 2011.

The Scottish presenter and cleaner went on to present Storage Hoarders on ITV for two series in 2012 and 2013.

Former cleaner Woodburn, 80, was runner-up on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2009 and came third in Celebrity Big Brother in 2017.

In 2018 Woodburn appeared on Loose Women as part of a mediation with her former CBB housemate Coleen Nolan.

Woodburn alleged she had been bullied by Nolan and ended up storming off the show.

ITV said in a statement at the time: “We invited Kim on the show to reconcile with Coleen and put their differences behind them. But it didn’t go to plan.

“After 18 months, we were hoping the two women would let bygones be bygones. But it wasn’t to be.”

Nolan subsequently took a break from the programme for several months following a backlash as she described the fall-out as the "worst week of [her] life".
