Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has been met with widespread condemnation.

Millions of people around the world want to find practical ways to show solidarity with Ukrainians.

Here is a list of organisations you can donate to and help people affected by the crisis.

• International Medical Corps

The organisation provides similar aid as the Red Cross, as well as mental health services to those affected by the war.

• CARE International

The non-profit is responding to the crisis by providing Ukrainians in need with food and hygiene kits. The group’s immediate crisis response is aiming to reach 4 million Ukrainians.

There are other ways you can help. These include:

• Writing to your MP

Writing a letter to your local MP can help urge the Government to do more to help the nation during the conflict.

To find your MP, visit the UK Parliament website here and type in your postcode or address.

• Supporting local journalism

The fact we’re so up to date with what’s happening in Ukraine is largely down to the tireless work of journalists reporting on the ground.

To help them continue this crucial work, follow the news from local sources such as The Kyiv Independent (can also donate on its website) and The New Voice of Ukraine.

• Join a peace protest

This might not seem as direct a way to help Ukrainians as, for example, donating money – but it could still have a big impact.

Joining a peace protest (if you are able to do so and feel comfortable being in a crowd) is a public way of showing your support for the people of Ukraine, and putting pressure on those in powerful positions to help those affected.
