HSBC makes change to give customers 'best experience possible'
HSBC UK has issued a new update to Midlands customers - after swinging open the doors to a brand new state-of-the-art branch in Loughborough. The bank has permanently relocated its branch to a few doors down from the site, at 31 Cattle Market.
The brand-new flagship branch in central Loughborough opened on 9 September after a multi-million pound investment, and includes a host of new innovative and accessible features such as braille signage, a sensory family room and the latest state-of-the-art machine technology.
The new branch includes a thoughtful new layout designed to enhance physical accessibility within the space, and includes height-adjustable desks, a mobility scooter charging point, new braille signage and hand rails, integrated hearing loops in customer telephones and quiet zones.

There is also a sensory and family room with an integrated Duplo wall and fidget toys. The branch will have a Safe Space for anyone in immediate need of a discrete space to reach out to friends and family, contact specialist support services or to phone a helpline.
New technology has also been installed across the new branch, including brand new cash machines that enable deposits, withdrawals and paying in cheques with the press of a few buttons, as well as cash recycling to reduce refilling frequency.
The branch has also been designed using recycled materials and recyclable furniture, with added insulation to reduce energy usage. Christopher Dean, Managing Director of Customer Channels at HSBC UK, said: “We are committed to being even more present in the communities we serve. This is why we’re investing more than £50 million this year in improving our branches, and have upgraded more than 100 branches in the last year, with another 23 to be completed by the end of 2024.
“This multi-million pound investment in the brand new Loughborough branch includes a multitude of new features designed to deliver the best customer experience possible.” Gursh Bassi, HSBC UK Local Director said: “HSBC’s connection to Loughborough is long-standing, having started at the beginning of the 20th Century, and our grounding within the community is one of the reasons why we’re so excited to re-open the doors of our branch.
“I also want to recognise the work the team has carried out over the course of the last year and half in order to ensure customers had access to banking services while the branch was closed, including operating a Pop Up in the Town Hall, and thank Charnwood Borough Council and Town Hall staff for their support with this. To our customers – we are looking forward to welcoming you in this brand new space at the heart of Loughborough, and thanks for all your patience over the last 18 months.”
