The camera

It looks like HTC is following in Samsung’s steps by offering dual cameras on the Desire 12+, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S9+.

This lets you refocus photos after the shot to achieve an artistic effect.

The smartphones each have a 13MP main camera, featuring Phase Detection Autofocus to provide extra clarity in images.

On the HTC Desire 12, there is a 5MP camera, with HD 720p video recording. However, on the HTC Desire 12+, the front camera is a whole 8MP and has Full HD 1080p video recording.

If the camera is a deal breaker for you, HTC is clearly pushing towards its bigger device with the improved specs.

The smartphone’s function

The HTC Desire 12 and HTC Desire 12+ smartphones are fitted with Android and HTC’s Sense platform.

This incorporates the HTC Sense Companion, which offers suggestions based on things you do, whether that’s smart alarms responding to your calendar, or Battery Saver to remind you to charge up before you leave home.

As well, this also brings extra performance enhancements which can clear junk files and free up space on your device.

The HTC Desire 12 has 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage or 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage, depending on the region. It also has space for a microSD card, offering up to 2TB of extra space.

In addition, it’s fitted with MediaTek’s MT6739 processor.

On the bigger phone, the HTC Desire 12+, there is 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, as well as the microSD card space.

In comparison, the Desire 12+ is fitted with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 450 processor, allowing the phone to run Android Oreo.

Battery-wise, the HTC Desire 12 has a 2730mAh battery, whilst the 12+ has a 2965mAh.

At the moment, pricing and availability of the new smartphones hasn’t been released yet.

However, it looks like HTC will be pricing the devices in the mid-range as it promises the new smartphones will “deliver the goods without breaking the bank.”
