Huddersfield crime hotspot crackdown on 'hate offenders, thieves and bad drivers'
Police have promised more action to 'take on' criminals including illegal drivers in a Huddersfield district.
Kirklees Police joined forces with the local authority and other agencies for a day of action to improve life in Deighton. Officers took to the streets on Monday and made arrests for 'hate' offending and theft. Cars were also seized for having no insurance or road tax.
Officers were supported by colleagues from the Kirklees Nuisance Anti-Social Behaviour Team who conducted patrols on police off- road bikes.

The team seized two cars as result of drivers not being insured and seized one car which wasn’t taxed.
Three drivers were also dealt with for offences including mobile phone use, with officers conducting further enquiries for a motorbike which failed to stop.
Kirklees officers from taxi licencing stopped 15 taxis and suspended the trading licenses of two drivers pending vehicle defects being fixed.
Officers conducted knife sweeps in parks and footpaths, these areas were then cleared and cleaned up by Kirklees Greenspace and ‘Homes and Neighbourhoods’. No knives were found.
A police spokesman said the focus on Monday was on Deighton. The area falls within the Ashbrow ward.
Inspector Amanda Holroyd of Kirklees Police said: "I want to thank partners for supporting this significant day of action conducted in Ashbrow on Monday.
"As we can see, agencies have been busy on the ground to both address criminality and conduct work to make residents safer, with arrests made and a number of illegal drivers dealt with.
"Persons we spoke with were really pleased to see so much activity on the ground by police and partners."
She added: "This day of action is just one part of a major package of work which has been ongoing in Ashbrow with much more planned over the coming weeks and months.
"We are working with partners to bring about both short term and long term improvements to the quality of life in communities with work already ongoing behind the scenes.
"We can only achieve this change with the support of residents and I urge anyone who has information about criminal activity in the Ashbrow area to contact us."
Intelligence about ongoing criminality in communities can be given in confidence to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
