Huddersfield Giants to make Andre Savelio call as ex-Hull FC forward named in squad

Former Hull FC forward Andre Savelio could make his long-awaited Huddersfield Giants debut on Friday night after being named in Ian Watson's 21-man squad for the first time.

The 29-year-old is yet to feature for the West Yorkshire club after swapping the Black and Whites for the Claret and Gold at the end of last season. He has been out with an unspecified injury, but made his comeback for the club's reserves side earlier this month.

Savelio, who wears shirt number 35, takes his place alongside another former Hull player in Jake Connor, who is included after missing last week's game against Leigh Leopards. Connor was involved in a couple of controversial moments as Huddersfield were dumped out the Challenge Cup by Warrington Wolves a fortnight ago.

Elsewhere, Adam Swift is out with a groin injury having scored seven tries against Hull in two early season appearances. The club are waiting on the severity of the muscle, with the winger, who has scored 17 tries this year, having scans last week.

The Giants defeated Hull 50-6 in the Challenge Cup and 56-22 in Super League in what was Tony Smith's final game in charge, with Friday night being the third meeting of the two sides this season. The Giants currently have five wins on the board and are in eight place on the table.
