Huddersfield Town fans have welcomed the football club's vision to improve the John Smith's Stadium and the wider site.

Club chief executive Jake Edwards revealed plans for a multi-million pound investment by new owner, American businessman Kevin Nagle, who bought the club in 2023. A deal that will see Town take control of the stadium is said to be nearing completion.

Mr Edwards recently outlined investment plans for the stadium site, including a new 5,000 square foot megastore in the former Rope Walk pub, as well as a hotel and a possible space for concerts and events at the former golf driving range, reports HuddersfieldHub. There are plans for improved corporate and executive boxes, and a new restaurant. One recent investment led to the creation of the popular H Town Bar.

The club has also signalled that it wants the stadium to hold more music concerts and for the area around the stadium to be developed to become a regional centre for conferences and events.

Fans have welcomed the ideas, although some want to see detailed plans and investment and not just words.

Stan Frontczak of the Huddersfield Town Supporters' Association said that 'on paper' the ideas put forward by the club 'look good'. However, he pointed out that redevelopment schemes had been talked about in the past but hadn't happened. He told Yorkshire Live: "Fresh ideas and proposals are welcome. What would be more welcome is stuff getting off the ground."

Stan said that it appeared owner Kevin Nagle was 'genuinely interested' in the town as well as the football club, and investment would be a much-needed boost for the town. He added: "Huddersfield needs something to make it more exciting and appealing for people. Huddersfield has been in the doldrums for quite a while. It needs to reinvent itself."
