Huddersfield shops fail police checks after 'selling booze and knife to child'
Two Huddersfield shops are facing 'further action' after they sold alcohol and a knife to a child.
West Yorkshire Police worked with Kirklees Cadets in the Ashbrow ward, which includes Deighton, Sheepridge, Brackenhall, Fixby, Fartown and Bradley. Nine shops were visited in total in a test purchasing operation. Two failed the test.
A police spokesman said: "Three Cadets attempted to buy alcohol, fireworks and knives from shops in the area. Two out of the nine shops visited failed as one sold alcohol and another sold a small knife.

"West Yorkshire Police Licensing will be taking further action against the shops that failed. The Cadets were praised for their can do attitude, and for being really keen to get stuck in and help out.
"They will be back working some more operations in the near future, in other areas of Kirklees."
West Yorkshire Police and other agencies have this week carried out a crackdown on crime and grime in the Deighton area, making several arrests and seizing cars for no insurance and no tax.
