A Huddersfield village pub has reopened after a major revamp.

The Travellers Rest at Brockholes has been refurbished with the creation of a new-look bar area and a second room featuring big TVs, a pool table, dart board and a superbike as a display piece. The Huddersfield pub had been closed for a number of months and has undergone a lot of renovation work.

And for those feeling peckish, there will be a fish and chip van in the car park, also known as Scholes on Tour, which is famous round these parts. It will be serving up food 12-2pm, Tuesday to Friday. There are also plans for 'pop-up' restaurants providing different food such as Indian and so on.

The joint managers are Oliver Lindley, who is from Brockholes, and Noah Crabtree, 19, of Holmfirth, who is taking the reins at his first pub. Oliver said he was looking forward to the 'challenge' of running a pub.

"It feels like a challenge - a challenge that we are excited for," he said.

Oliver will be a familiar face to many as he's worked at several pubs in Huddersfield including the Brooks Arms, White Cross and the Ivy Green.

The Brockholes pub is aiming to attract a broad clientele, including sports fans who enjoy watching big events on Sky. There are various beers including Wainwright, Guinness and Farmers Blonde.

Anthony Lowther-Knowles, business development manager at Admiral Taverns, said: "I am absolutely delighted to welcome our brand new, passionate licensee to the Travellers Rest in Brockholes.

"He has been working tirelessly to bring his vision for the pub to life and it's looking fantastic so I'm excited to see all that's to come.

"On behalf of myself and the whole team at Admiral Taverns, we'd like to wish (him) every success for the future in cementing the pub at the heart of the local community."

The Travellers Rest can be found at 88 New Mill Road, Brockholes, near Holmfirth.
