A huge fun run with people dressed up as Christmas elves will be taking place in an Essex park tomorrow (Saturday November 30). The "Mental Elf Fun Run" will be held in Weald Park in Brentwood in support of the local division of the mental health charity Mind.

Mental Elf is a festive 2.5 or 5k fun walk/run which focuses on bringing people together, not only to fundraise, but to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing. It promotes the benefits of physical activity, connecting with people and doing something to help others in local community.

Various events like it have been held by other divisions of Mind across the UK, but this will be the first to be held in Brentwood. The fun run will be taking place in the beautiful surroundings of Weald Country Park, which is well known for its deer park and Stick Man trail.

The country park, as well as being famous for the deers and Stick Man trail, also boasts spectacular views and spaces which cover more than 520 acres of various landscapes, including woodlands, wildflower meadows and grasslands. The park dates all the way back to the 12th century.

It's a non-competitive event open to all ages and abilities. Festive fancy dress will be much encouraged by the organisers. The starting point for the run will be next to the visitor centre car park in Belvedere Field on the south side of the park, and is set to begin at 11am on Saturday.

The running route will take people along the shores of the lake, through the edges of the forests, back across to Teacup Pond, before coming back down to the start/finish line. There are still tickets available for the event for those wishing to take part.
