A massive crowd of Hearts fans swarmed a Bruges city centre square ahead of their European match on Thursday.

In pictures shared with Edinburgh Live, the packed square was taken over by fans ahead of their game against Cercle Brugge.

Bringing an electric atmosphere to the European city, fans travelled from Edinburgh to show their support leading up to and during the Conference League clash.

Pictures show the huge crowds at various spots across the city with bars and pubs packed with supporters.

One image in particular shows hundreds of fans huddled together enjoying pints and wrapped up warm embracing the chilly temperatures.

Its understood around 3,000 Hearts fans descended on Bruges ahead of the fixture. Supporters were advised to meet at the square in Eiermarkt, just off the main Grote Markt square which sits under the Belfort with plenty pubs, restaurants and bars nearby.
