Huge crowd of masked youths storm Edinburgh street and set off fireworks
'Huge crowd' of masked youths marching through Edinburgh have left locals shaken.
Yesterday, at around 11.30am, 'a crowd of 40' ultras marched up London Road chanting with drums ahead of the Edinburgh City FC versus Spartans game at 1pm at Meadowbank Stadium - the first time the game has been played in seven years.
One Edinburgh resident told Edinburgh Live the crowd intimidated those living nearby and blocked the road. He also claimed fireworks were being set off.

He said: "At 11.36 today around 40 hooligans all dressed in black some covering faces decided to start banging a drum and letting off fireworks and chanting and jumping up and down.
"Very much caused intimidation of the public and blocked a road. The police arrived and carried out a foot pursuit around the McDonald's burger outlet on London Road."
Images provided to Edinburgh Live show a big mob of adolescents brandishing Ultras banners. As they prepared for the derby match, one youngster held a huge drum and two others led the march.
Police stated that fireworks were let off in the afternoon near Meadowbank on Clockmill Lane.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a group setting off pyrotechnics in the Clockmill Lane area of Edinburgh around 12.10pm on Saturday, October 12.
“Enquiries are at an early stage.”
