Dua Lipa will finally make her full Anfield debut seven years after creating a unique bond at the 2018 Champions League final in Kyiv. Liverpool fans have questioned when this moment will happen ever since the pre-match ceremony on May 26, 2018 and despite the defeat to Real Madrid that night, fans have great memories dancing to 'One Kiss' in the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium.

In what was a taster to come for next summer, the singer headlined many Scousers' second-home of Glastonbury, with an army of fans from the city enjoying her gig. Now she will perform in front of the Kop at a huge show in 2025 at Anfield.

The unique bond between the singer and Liverpool fans was formed back in 2018 when Liverpool reached the 2018 Champions League Final in Kyiv. Despite the 3-1 defeat for Jurgen Klopp's side 'One Kiss' which was performed by Dua Lipa before the final against Real Madrid became an unofficial song of a trophy-laden spell for the Reds between 2019 and 2023.

In what has become a tradition ahead of the Champions League Final, UEFA brings in a singer to perform at the opening ceremony. They're usually quite dull but in Kyiv, it turned into an absolute party and I was part of it.

The 2017/18 season brought back enjoyment for Liverpool fans as they reached their first Champions League Final since 2007 and the thousands of fans in the Ukranian capital were making the most of it. Fans of a certain age knew of Dua Lipa at the time and how big the song 'One Kiss' was, but nobody would have predicted what happened when she started to sing it in Kyiv.

The whole Liverpool end in the NSK Olimpiyskiy Stadium were on their seats having a huge pre-match party helped by the sunshine and cheap ale. The Real Madrid fans at the opposite end of the stadium must have been wondering what was going on - and that is the same with outsiders who are still trying to understand the link between Liverpool fans and Dua Lipa.

From that moment it has become part of the Liverpool songbook. Whenever Liverpool have won a trophy it has been belted out in the stands and has filtered into the dressing room with players also enjoying the song when picking up silverware.

It was also the song blasted along the Strand as Calvin Harris joined Liverpool for their parade after winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in 2022. Dua Lipa has previously spoken about that moment in Kyiv. The 28-year-old said: “One of the highlights of the night was definitely seeing the video of all the Liverpool fans chanting along to One Kiss afterwards.

“I felt very honoured. I had never played a show of that size before, I don’t think I have since!"

“I get really nervous before I perform anywhere, let alone the Champions League final. I remember standing at the side of the pitch with my palms sweating waiting to run on and get into position. I was so full of adrenaline it was over very quickly and I remember running off the pitch at the end with two of my tour dancers.

“I was very lucky to have the support of people back home right there in the stadium in Kyiv. I’m still shocked when watching it back seeing all these fans singing along to my song!

“I’m always extremely grateful for the support. It’s heart-warming and I’m very lucky. One of the most popular questions asked on Google about Dua Lipa is "Does Dupa Lipa support Liverpool?"

She responded by calling herself an 'honorary Liverpool fan' due to her dad and brother's loyalties to Arsenal.
