Huge Edinburgh snowball fight breaks out on The Meadows as locals brave winter storm

A massive snowball fight broke out in Edinburgh as locals made the most of the wintery conditions on Saturday.

Storm Bert hit the capital on November 23 and brought with it heavy snow showers and icy weather conditions.

However, many decided to brave the cold temperatures and headed to The Meadows for fun in the snow. In a video shared with Edinburgh Live, the huge snowball fight was filmed with hundreds of people getting involved.

The crowd erupted into a countdown before several people shouted "fire" and snowballs began being pelted across the park.

People of all ages took part wrapped up in their hats and gloves - smiling and laughing throughout the snow battle.

One person said: "There was an epic snowball fight today at The Meadows."

Edinburgh and the Lothians was covered in a blanket of snow on Saturday morning with severe travel disruption across the capital.

The yellow weather warning was initially in place until Sunday 9am, November 24, but has now been lifted.
