Eid ul-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the two most important holidays celebrated in Islam. Many Muslims commemorate that day both the devotion of Abraham and the survival of his son Ishmael.

This year, the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah begin today (June 7). As a result, Eid ul-Adha, which falls on the tenth day, is set to be on Sunday, June 16.

To mark the occasion, 1Eid is organising three huge fairs across and near London. They'll take place in Southall, Goodmayes and Luton over two days.

In Luton, the event will run from 12pm until 9:30pm on Eid day, and from 1pm until 9:30pm the next day. There'll be donkey rides, circus performers and fire jugglers to provide entertainment.

There'll also be a funfair and bazaar as well as Quran competitions. And the icing on the cake will be the fireworks display at the end of the first day of the festival.

In Goodmayes, the event will run from 11am until 10pm on Eid day, and from 11am until 9:30pm the next day. Boxing and sumo competitions, donkey rides and Quran competitions will be held both days.

On the first day of the festival, there'll be an axe and sword throwing event, as well as a fireworks display at the end of the night. On the second day, a circus workshop culminating in a fire show has been announced.

In Southall, the event will run from 11am until 10pm on Eid day, and from 1pm until 9pm the next day. The celebrations and fair will take place over the two days, with a programme similar to that of the Goodmayes festival.

Everyone is welcome, but 1Eid is asking all attendees to make a donation of £1 to help cover the costs of the events. Each donation entitles you to a 'ticket', which allows you to register for the festivals.

Luton Festival will take place at Wardown Park, New Bedford Road, Luton LU3 1LP; Goodmayes Festival will take place at Goodmayes Park, Green Lane entrance, London IG3 9T and Southall Festival will take place at Southall Park, Uxbridge Rd, London UB1 3A.
