Huge Exeter CAMRA beer festival makes its annual return
Hundreds of people are expected to descend upon Exeter Corn Exchange this week for the annual of the Exeter Festival of Beer.
A huge selection of British beers, as well as some Westcountry ciders, wines and gins will be celebrated during the return of the three-day beer festival. The Exeter and East Devon branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is hosting the popular event at Exeter Corn Exchange, Market Street, between Thursday, January 16, and Saturday, January 18.
Exeter Festival of Beer, formerly called The Festival of Winter Ales, provides an opportunity to sample a wide range of brews from British brewery’s far and wide. For lovers of cider, there is the opportunity to sample a number of quality Westcountry ciders and perrys, many of which you will not find in the usual establishments.

The event usually attracts around 1,600 people. Devon-based beer writer Tim Webb, co-author of The World Atlas of Beer, will again be offering tutored tasting sessions. There will also be the chance to take part in session Explore the World of the Artisan Cidermaker. Entry to both sessions are by ticket only.
An Exeter and East Devon branch spokesperson said: “We are really excited to be able to return for a third year at the Exeter Corn Exchange. This venue has enabled us to keep this annual festival, which has become a post Christmas tradition for many, within the city and to retain its place on the social calendar.
"We look forward to welcoming both familiar faces and those who are attending for the first time, for what we hope will continue to be a festival with a very friendly atmosphere. We would also like to thank all our sponsors and supporters who help make this event possible”.
