Huge Fire at Plastics Factory Forces Evacuations

A fire at a factory in the Brisbane suburb of Virginia sent plumes of smoke over the city on Sunday, September 24.

Police established an “exclusion zone” in the immediate vicinity of the fire and said that due to the toxic nature of the smoke residents in the area were asked to remain in doors and close windows.

The Brisbane Times reported that the fire was at a plastics reconditioning factory and that an Officeworks and a nearby pet shop had been evacuated. Credit: Twitter/samuelfinch via Storyful
