Huge search for missing OAP as mountain rescue team, drones and divers deployed

Police have drafted in a mountain rescue team as the search for a missing pensioner enters its fourth day. A new photo has also been issued of Malcolm with the public urged to report any sightings.

The 74-year-old, from Lask Edge near Biddulph Moor, was last seen at around 4.15pm on Sunday (January 19) before officially being reported missing on Monday evening (January 20). Police divers were spotted at Knyperlsey Pool yesterday afternoon and they remain at the reservoir today (January 23).

Now Buxton Mountain Rescue, along with volunteers, have been brought in to help with the extensive search. Malcolm is described as 6ft with a slim build and fair hair. He is believed to be wearing a black jacket, blue overalls and may be using a homemade walking stick, approximately one metre in height.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "We’re continuing to carry out extensive searches using specialist teams and detectives in our efforts to find missing man Malcolm. Officers have teamed up with volunteer search and rescue teams from Staffordshire, Cheshire and West Mercia and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team to follow up any reported sightings of Malcolm over the last few days.

"Extensive searches continue to be carried out at Knypersley Lake, his home address and the surrounding areas. We’re continuing to deploy specialist teams, drones, sonar technology and local officers to follow up on any information that could help us find him."

"We’re also now able to share a new image of Malcolm to help with our appeal for information. Anyone who might know where he could be is urged to get in touch."

Sightings should be reported to Staffordshire Police by calling 101 quoting incident 726 of January 20.
