Hugh Grant says son stabbed himself in the face with pen during home-schooling session

Hugh Grant has revealed his son got so frustrated during a home-schooling session that he stabbed himself in the face with a pen.

The Undoing star, 60, said his son was trying to solve a maths problem when it happened.

Grant - a father of five - opened up during a SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations at Home interview with his Music And Lyrics co-star Drew Barrymore.

The actor, who is in Turkey with his family while he shoots a movie there, said: “I've rented two teenagers to come and home school them.

"Poor things, they don’t know what's hit them. It's ghastly, absolutely ghastly.

"My son self-harmed himself in front of this young tutor today because he couldn't do a basic bit of arithmetic - so he stabbed himself in the face with a Biro."

Love Actually star Grant has three children with his wife Anna Eberstein, who he tied the knot with in 2018.

He also has two children from his former relationship with Tinglan Hong.

The actor’s first child was born in 2011 and he has previously said he was “plain wrong” about putting off marriage and children for so many years.

Speaking to The Chris Evans Virgin Radio Breakfast Show in 2019, he said: “Well, I was just plain wrong. I was wrong.

"And children, you know, I used to roll my eyes. People would say, 'Oh Hugh you don't understand it', but they were right.”
