Logan is Hugh Jackman's swan song as Wolverine.

But there's one thing that would have tempted him to stick around a little longer. And that's if Wolverine joined The Avengers.

We know, licensing makes that pretty much impossible. Fox has the rights to the X-Men movies, and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has said that he can't see a crossover happening at all.

But Jackman would have loved to team up with Iron Man and Captain America.

"If that was on the table when I made my decision, it certainly would have made me pause," he said (via ScreenRant). "That's for sure.

"Because I always love the idea of him within that dynamic, with the Hulk obviously, with Iron Man, but there's a lot of smarter people with MBAs who can't figure that out. You never know."

Logan, directed by James Mangold, is out in cinemas next week - and you might need to bring tissues with you.

Reviews have been hugely positive, with Digital Spy calling it "emotional, brutal and stylish... It pierces the heart several times over and leaves you in pieces".

But don't sit through the entire credits expecting a post-credits scene. Because there isn't one.

In the movie, Jackman reunites with Sir Patrick Stewart's Professor X for the last time, with the pair hitting the road to protect a young mutant called Laura (Dafne Keen) from the sinister forces (and cyborgs) pursuing her.

Richard E Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, Eriq La Salle and Elise Neal also feature.
