Parents in Hull are being urged by the Family Information Service of Hull City Council to confirm their eligibility for childcare before the looming deadline.

From September, infants who will be nine months old on or before 31 August 2024 could qualify for 15 hours of early education and childcare (or up to 30 hours for children aged 3-4 years). To be eligible for the funding in September, applications must be completed by 31 August.

The council suggests applying and notifying your chosen childcare provider of your eligibility code by mid-July, as some centres may close over the summer holidays.

Eligibility criteria requires both parents (or a single parent in a one-parent household) to work at least 16 hours weekly and earn under £100k annually per person.

Pauline Turner, Director of Children and Family Services at Hull City Council, said: "We encourage all eligible parents to apply and confirm their child's place as early as possible to ensure they don't miss out. Early learning lays foundations for life and I encourage all parents to ensure they are registered and take up their child's place."
