Hull City given 'spectacular' transfer verdict to late window flurry
Hull City ended the summer transfer window 'spectacularly well' according to EFL pundit Adrian Clarke, with August being a particularly busy month in East Yorkshire.
New manager Tim Walter inherited a squad in transition but has made big strides in assembling a group he believes can challenge for promotion to the Premier League. City signed Abu Kamara, Carl Rushworth, Mohamed Belloumi and Kasey Palmer on transfer deadline day, while Charlie Hughes, Liam Millar, Mason Burstow, Zane Myers, Chris Bedia, Oscar Zambrano and Gustavo Puerta all arrived in the latter stages of the window.
It has meant it is very much a new-look Hull City now, but a squad which has impressed former Arsenal, Southend and Stevenage midfielder-turned-pundit Clarke, after some initial fears. The Tigers are yet to win under Walter, although the 2-0 defeat to Leeds United at Elland Road last time out was the first time they had lost in the Championship this season, following three draws.

However, Clarke has been impressed with that City achieved in the final weeks of August, which should bode well for the coming months as they look to better last season's seventh-placed finish.
“I was not impressed by their window up until the end”, Clarke told the What the EFL podcast. "They ended up getting Charlie Hughes from Wigan, who is a player I really like as a centre half.
“They have got Carl Rushworth, superb in goal for Swansea last year. Kasey Palmer, we know how good he is and Abu Kamara, who was magnificent for Pompey during the second half of the last season. I think Hull closed the window spectacularly well.”
City will be looking for their first win of the campaign when they resume Championship action against Sheffield United on Friday night (September 13), with the match broadcast live on Sky Sports (8pm).
