Hull KR confirm Oliver Gildart and Tom Opacic injury stance as derby draws near

Hull Kingston Rovers centres Oliver Gildart and Tom Opacic are available for selection for Saturday's away derby against Hull FC after being passed fit.

Rovers had Peta Hiku at right centre and Jack Broadbent at left centre in the defeat against Catalans last time out on Saturday. Having Gildart and Opacic to choose from again now creates a conundrum over who to select for the derby.

Hull KR coach Willie Peters said: "Tom Opacic is available, Oliver Gildart is available, Jack Broadbent is available, Joe Burgess is available. So all our outside backs are available, which is great, and a good position to be in.

"There are some players who are going to miss out who probably shouldn't miss out, in terms of ability and experience. But you want to be in that position. Whoever does play this weekend in the outside backs certainly needs to perform well.

"There are players who won't make our 17 who could certainly be in our 17 - so it's important that the guys in the 17 work hard and perform to their best."

Rovers will be without Sam Luckley, after his failed HIA, and Peters wants the front rowers to step up from what was delivered against Catalans. The coach said: "Overall, against Catalans, in terms of our middle, we weren't happy with how we played in that first half. We need a lot of improvement there.

"We are looking forward to facing FC in their home ground. A lot has been spoken about how they are an improved side and they are playing well. We are looking forward to improving on what we did in that first half against Catalans.

"We trained today and we trained well and with intent but we want to make sure that we have got enough in the tank for Saturday. It's an emotional day, there's a lot of hype around it. We know what this game means to our fans and community. I know going out and putting in a really strong performance will make them even prouder of this team."
