Hull potato fans queue for free lavish caviar and lobster-topped spuds 'worth £50'

There was a long queue as Hull potato fans waited for their chance to try lavish baked potatoes topped with luxurious ingredients that were being given away for free by Spudman at Mecca Bingo, in Clough Road — -Credit: (Image: Mecca Bingo)

Despite the icy temperatures, there were long queues outside a Hull bingo hall for the chance to enjoy a winter warmer with a difference.

Viral sensation Spudman rolled up in his distinctive van to Mecca Bingo, in Clough Road, between noon and 2pm on Wednesday to hand out the "UK's most luxurious jacket potatoes" - each said to be worth around £50 - completely free.

Rather than the usual baked beans or Cheddar cheese, the gourmet 'Jackpot Jack Pots' featured saffron butter-infused lobster tail, premium caviar, fresh truffle shavings, shredded Gruyére cheese, edible gold leaf and much more. Eager to try the extravagant treats, dozens of people lined up for hours to get their hands on one of the posh potatoes.

Each bite of the fancy spuds "uncovers another layer of decadence", as silky black truffle butter and a blend of fresh herbs — chives, chervil and tarragon — "elevate the creamy potato to a level of complete indulgence".

Hull was the first stop on Spudman's tour which will also see the Tamworth-based social media star visit Stevenage and Blackpool over the next two Wednesdays as part of a collaboration with Mecca Bingo.
