Have your say: Hull residents called to shape future of conservation areas
Hull City Council is calling on residents, businesses, visitors, and property owners within two conservation areas in west Hull to share their opinions to help guide future developments.
The council is reviewing Ella Street and Newland Park as part of its pledge to reassess all its conservation areas and establish management guidelines for each area.
The public is invited to comment on the proposed adoption of new character appraisals and management plans, which include potentially excluding modern development zones from these areas. In Ella Street, locals are also being asked to weigh in on whether planning permission should be required for roof lights and solar panels on street-facing elevations.

Meanwhile, those in Newland Park will discuss the issue of hardstanding areas in front gardens.
By implementing new management documents, residents will receive clear guidance on permissible property developments within a conservation area.
Cllr Paul Drake-Davis, the council’s portfolio holder for regeneration and housing, said: “The council remains committed to ensuring each of its conservation areas are appropriately supported.
“These surveys and public consultations guarantee that the people who live in these conservation areas are at the heart of shaping their future.
“For those in Ella Street, the council would particularly like to hear residents’ views on the proposed requirement of planning permission for roof lights and solar panels on street facing elevations.”
