Hull's East Park to undergo essential improvement works
Hull's beloved East Park is set to see major improvements as Hull City Council confirms essential upgrades to the park's footpaths are set to begin this month.
The project will focus on rejuvenating the deteriorated paths between the animal shelter and the children's play area, ensuring a smoother and safer journey for all park-goers.
Starting from Monday 7 October, the restoration work is expected to span across four weeks, weather permitting.
To facilitate the works while keeping the site secure, phased partial footpath closures are planned, ensuring access is preserved for both the Animal Shelter and the play park during this period.
Portfolio holder for transportation, roads, and highways at Hull City Council, Councillor Mark Ieronimo commented on the significance of the refurbishments: "East Park is very popular with the residents of Hull, so we must ensure that the footpaths remain safe, usable, and accessible to all.
"We are dedicated to investing in our city’s footpaths and ensuring that our parks and open spaces are maintained to the highest standards, and this resurfacing work is a key part of that effort."

He also highlighted the benefits of the new scheme: "This scheme will not only improve the look of the park but will ensure it remains a safe and enjoyable place for everyone to visit."
Additionally, he extended gratitude to the public: "We would like to thank our park users for their patience and understanding while we carry out these works."
The project is funded by Hull City Council’s Capital Programme for Parks and Open Spaces for 2024/25 and will be executed by Roche Civil Engineering Limited on behalf of the council.
