American fast food giant Five Guys has submitted a licensing application as it nears completion of its first restaurant in Hull.

After opening its first UK site in Covent Garden, London, in 2013, Five Guys now has around 200 locations around the country, with Hull soon to be added to the list.

Instead of moving to Hull city centre, the burger restaurant is joining the likes Taco Bell, Dunkin', and Nando's at Kingswood Leisure Park, in the car park opposite Hollywood Bowl.

The company, which was founded in Virginia in 1986, has now submitted an application to Hull City Council seeking permission to operate between 08:00 - 23:30 Sunday to Wednesday and 08:00 - 00:30 Thursday to Saturday. It has also applied for permission to sell alcohol.

It is understood the restaurant is currently set to open in February 2025.

Five Guys will offer "gourmet burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, fries and delicious milkshakes to eat in or take away". The Kingswood restaurant will feature "indoor and outdoor seating areas, with disabled access toilet facilities and baby changing facilities".

Building work began in the summer after permission was granted for its construction in October 2023.
