Police officers have identified human remains found in a field in South Gloucestershire earlier this month. David Wilson, 63, of Downend, who was reported missing in late September, has been identified as the deceased.

Police investigations at the time established that he had not been seen since mid-May this year. Avon and Somerset reported two appeals for information about his whereabouts, but unfortunately, no-one came forward with any confirmed sightings.

Tragically, a forensic examination of the remains found in Emerson's Green on November 5 has now confirmed the identification. A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police shared: "David's next of kin have been updated and we're thinking of them.

"Officers have found no evidence of suspicious circumstances and continue to treat the death as unexplained since a forensic post-mortem examination proved inconclusive.

"If you saw David at any time between May and November or have any information which could help to establish what happened, please call 101 and give the reference 5224291560."
