Humber energy companies join forces to create video aimed at educating and inspiring children
A number of local energy companies have joined forces to create a special video aimed at educating children about the industry's commitment to tackling climate change.
Titled, 'What is decarbonisation?', the video has been created by CATCH, Drax, Equinor, Harbour Energy, Phillips 66, SSE Thermal, and VPI, and explains the various technologies that will help to transform the region in the coming years.
As well as educating them, the video aims to inspire children by showcasing the different career options available in the energy industry, from accountants and HR professionals to to engineers and technicians.

It also highlights the collective action among Humber businesses in tackling climate change by advancing their own carbon emission reduction goals, through technologies including carbon capture, lower carbon hydrogen and biomass.
The Humber region produces more carbon dioxide on an industrial scale than anywhere else in the UK, meaning the area presents one of the largest opportunities for industrial decarbonisation.
The UK government aims to reduce all direct emissions from public sector buildings by 50 percent and 75 percent by 2032 and 2037 respectively, against a 2017 baseline. All UK emissions are to reach net zero by 2050.
Katie Hedges, Director of Membership & Low Carbon Strategy at CATCH, said: "Decarbonisation is an opportunity to inspire the next generation. By showcasing the innovative technologies and diverse career paths in our industry, we aim to empower children to envision a sustainable future and their role in it.
"The Humber region is at the forefront of this transformation, and together, we can achieve our net zero goals while driving economic growth and job creation."
