Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke to hundreds of people who had gathered outside a mosque in London, Ontario, on June 8 to remember four family members who were killed in an anti-Muslim attack.
The victims – two parents, their daughter, and a grandmother from the Afzaal family – were out walking when they were struck by a truck at an intersection in London on June 6. The sole survivor was a nine-year-old boy, who was injured and remains in hospital.
Trudeau said the attack was an “act of evil.”
Police said the attack was an “intentional act” and that the victims were targeted because of their Islamic faith. They said there was evidence that this was a “planned, premeditated act, motivated by hate.”
