Hundreds of homes and employment land planned for fields at edge of town
Hundreds of new homes could be built on fields at the edge of a Leicestershire town. Miller Homes also wants to build 1.3 acres of employment land on two fields off Market Bosworth's Station Road.
The site had originally been allocated for up to 100 new homes as part of the Market Bosworth Masterplan to fulfil the town's housing requirements. However, Miller Homes' proposal to Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council (HBBC) seeks to build 138 homes along with 1.3 acres of employment land.
The application seeks full planning permission for the homes, but asks for only an initial approval for the employment land, with full details to be provided at a later date if the council gives the scheme the green light.

Two houses will be demolished to provide access to the site, and some employment buildings will also be lost to create the access, with planning documents saying the proposed employment space “partially acts to replace” them. Planning documents submitted by Miller Homes say there will be 11 one-bedroom homes, 52 two-beds, 55 three-beds and 20 four-bed houses, while affordable housing will make up 40 per cent of the homes.
Miller Homes is also promising almost five acres of open space, which will include a trim-trail route – where play equipment is spaced out – rather than a playground. A new T-junction will be created to access the site from Station Road, and "speed control measures" and footpath improvements are proposed for the road in the planning documents.
The site is on the west side of the town and is opposite the former Kyngs Golf and Country Club where a 50-room hotel is set to be built after Statue Homes received planning permission earlier this year.
The application documents can be found on the council’s planning portal and comments and objections can be made until Monday, September 23.
