Hundreds of Santas set to fill Gloucester's Kings Square
A sea of Santas are gearing themselves up to run., walk or stroll through Gloucester to raise money for good cause in the city. Last year a whopping 500 people donned their finest Santa attire as they set off on the 1k or 5k route.
The Santa Fun Run has been a regular event in Gloucester for seven years, and the date set for this years charity fundraiser is December 14. Participants are asked to meet outside the old Debenhams Store in Kings Square for registration from 9.30am for the run to begin at 10.30am.
Matthew Cass, 51, from Gloucester, thought of the idea of the Gloucester Santa Fun Run and has organised the event behalf of the Gloucester Rotary Club. He was inspired to do the event after he completed the Gloucester marathon for charity and has seen the fundraising event grow from 50 to over 400 people taking part, and he hopes Kings Square shall be full of Santa's taking part this year.

Matt said: "We can not wait to see you in your festive fancy dress. and how often do you get to put on your finest festive fancy dress and can run round the centre of Gloucester with 400 other festive fancy dressers. The Gloucester Santa Fun Run is back on Saturday December 14 in Kings Square and we would like you to come along and join the fun.
"The registration opens at 9.30am and the race starts at 10.30am. Last year we had over 400 runners and this year its looking like it might be more, so I ask why not join the fun, and lets fill Kings Square and the city with Santas.
"Last year, hundreds of runners helped raise over £4,000 for local charities. so let’s see if we can beat that this year. Lets fill Kings Square so please spread the word.
"We still have a few of the Santa snoods for sale at £6. You can collect them and your running number ahead of time from Cass-Stephen’s office in Barnwood or on the day.
"All the money raised goes straight back into the community care of the Gloucester Rotary Community Awards so by helping support the Fun Run, you are helping support your city. So we look forward to you joining us by running in your full Santa get up on Saturday December 14."
This event is organised by the Rotary Club of Gloucester and sponsored and supported by Gloucester BID, Nettl and Cass-Stephens Insurances Ltd. Please note that the entry fee is treated as a donation so is non refundable as the event is a for charity.
