Lewis Hamilton believes he is in the biggest title scrap of his career as he aims to move into the championship lead for the first time this season.

Victory at his home grand prix closed the gap to Sebastian Vettel to a single point with the Briton confident of taking another win in Hungary this weekend to take the lead going into the month-long summer break.

“It is a challenging season, if not the most challenging season of my career,” said Hamilton, “but an enjoyable one. That also goes for the team.

“We all have probably worked a bit harder but, when you come to the factory, you physically feel that incredible energy.”

Mercedes will be the race favourite but Hamilton said that Red Bull would come into the mix in Budapest. “This should be a good track for them,” he said. “It’s now a great power sensitive circuit, so it will be a good race between the top three teams.”
