Hungry Hog Chomps on Pumpkin Ahead of Halloween at Cincinnati Zoo

A red river hog at the Cincinnati Zoo got a taste for the Halloween season as he chomped into a pumpkin on October 11, the zoo said.

Video of the hungry hog, named Sir Francis Bacon after the Elizabethan-era British statesman, shows him taking bites out of the pumpkin and rolling it around his enclosure.

According to the zoo, Francis has a “strong snout and sharp tusks” which help him dig up roots and bulbs to eat. Credit: Cincinnati Zoo via Storyful
