Hunt for moped-riding arsonists as car turns into fireball

Police are hunting two moped-riding arsonists after a car was torched late at night. Firefighters were called to Cardway, Bradwell, after a black Kia Sportage went up in flames.

An investigation found that the blaze was started deliberately. Now Staffordshire Police are hoping to track down two men who were seen leaving the scene at just after 10pm on May 9.

A force spokesman said: "We are appealing for information following a deliberate car fire in Newcastle-under-Lyme. We went to an address on Cardway, Bradwell, just after a black Kia Sportage was found well-alight.

"The fire was extinguished by our colleagues at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and no one was injured. The cause of the fire was later deemed to be deliberate. Following the fire, two men were seen leaving on a moped.

"If you were in the area at the time of the fire and have any information that could help us with our enquiries, please get in touch."
