Hurlford United boss focuses on positives after derby draw but insists wins must arrive soon
Darren Henderson heaped praise on his Hurlford United side’s performance in their 2-2 away draw at Darvel - but insisted the wins will need to start coming soon as they look to move away from the West of Scotland Premier Division relegation zone.
The draw was enough to see the Blair Park outfit climb out of the bottom three, but it’s only one win in 10 league games so far this term and Henderson confessed it has them in an unfamiliar part of the league table.
But he backed his side to get things right, not least because his lengthy injury list is starting to ease.
Speaking to the Standard, he said: “It was a game that we probably should have won but in fairness we could easily have lost as well. We had a good few chances but Darvel did as well.
“I think the big moment was two minutes after half-time when Kris Kerr is through and if that goes in, I think we win the game.
“We’ve been smashed with injuries this season and really it’s only been the last couple of weeks we’ve been able to run decent training sessions.
“We’ll be OK. We take the point and go again but we need to start picking up wins. We had a chat after the game about that and the boys understand it.

“We’re in a position in the table we’ve not been in for a while but we’ll just keep going.”
The Ford squandered a string of early chances before Darvel opened the scoring with Henderson insisting a mistake from the officials led to it, saying: “It’s our throw-in. Even the Darvel player has thrown the ball into our player’s arms and the goal’s came from that.”
