The National Hurricane Center (NHC) confirmed that Hurricane Delta made landfall on the eastern coast of Mexico early Wednesday, October 7, with winds of up to 110 mph and a life-threatening storm surge expected.
This footage was taken Wednesday morning in the hotel zone, a resort-studded stretch on the southeastern coast of Mexico, including Cancun. Tourists had evacuated inland and fled to airports ahead of the storm.
Residents in Cancun surveyed the damage caused by the Category 2 storm on Wednesday morning, reporting downed trees and damaged property.
The NHC said that in the US, southern states including Louisiana and Mississippi should expect storm impacts by Friday. Credit: @aliofiel via Storyful
