Hurricane-force winds were recorded in Farmington, Centerville, Layton, Willard, Brigham City, Salt Lake City, and at Logan Peak on Tuesday morning, according to local reports. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City officially reported 98 mph wind gusts.
As of 9.45 am, Rocky Mountain Power had reported more than 58,500 outages in northern Utah.
Interstate 15 was closed in both directions.
