Hurricane Hunters Fly Through Ida's Eye as Storm Makes Landfall

Hurricane Ida made landfall as an “extremely dangerous” category 4 storm on Sunday, August 29, near Port Fourchon, Louisiana.

According to the National Hurricane Center, the storm made landfall with maximum sustained winds of 150 mph.
