Hurricane Ida Bears Down on New Orleans

Hurricane Ida moved inland in Louisiana after making landfall as a category 4 storm on Sunday, August 29, maintaining sustained winds of 130 mph into the afternoon.

The National Hurricane Center said on Sunday evening that Ida was moving further inland over southeastern Louisiana, bringing “catastrophic” storm surges, extreme winds, and flash flooding.
