Hurricane Ida brought wind and rain as it made landfall on the Isle of Youth in Cuba on August 27, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.
A hurricane warning was issued for the Isle of Youth, where the NHC warned of a “life-threatening” storm surge. This video, filmed by Twitter user @Un_Cubano_Mas, shows strong winds hitting the area on Friday afternoon.
Prior to making landfall on Friday, Ida had been upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph. The NHC said the hurricane would “strengthen rapidly” over the weekend. Credit: @Un_Cubano_Mas via Storyful
