Hurricane Laura made landfall in Louisiana in the early hours of August 27, accompanied by winds up to 150 mph, the National Hurricane Center said.
Footage from Levi Newell shows strong gusts of wind shaking a road sign.
“Crazy winds here in Lake Charles. We are … moving to the inner eye wall of devastating hurricane,” Newell said.
The National Hurricane Center warned of “unsurvivable” storm surge, extreme winds, and flash flooding across Louisiana, and said that waters could penetrate up to 40 miles inland from the coastline. Credit: Levi Newell via Storyful
