Hurricane Maria Trashes San Juan Hotel Room
Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico on Wednesday, September 20, making landfall in Yabucoa before moving north to San Juan.
The hurricane brought winds of about 150 mph to the island, causing flooding, felling trees and blowing the roofs off of multiple homes, according to reports from USA Today.
“Once we’re able to go outside, we’re going to find our island destroyed,” said Puerto Rico’s Emergency Management Director Abner Gomez Cortes, as reported by NBC News.
This footage shows a glimpse at the hurricane’s strong winds as seen from the interior of a Holiday Inn in Condado, a neighborhood in San Juan. The wind appears to have smashed in one of the hotel’s windows and scattered debris around a room, and the flooded streets outside are also visible. Credit: Instagram/w.jenay via Storyful
