Shelagh Mary Bagshaw
Shelagh Mary Bagshaw passed away on September 25, aged 78 years.
The much loved wife of Peter, devoted mum to Ian, Gary and Daniel, beloved gran to Ben, Ava, Mae and Lara. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, October 15, at St Mary’s Church Clitheroe at 10am, followed by burial at Clitheroe Cemetery at 11am.

Stephen Oxford
Stephen Oxford passed away on Saturday, September 7 at Belvedere Care Home Accrington, aged 77 years.
Brother of John and Ann and fond uncle and great uncle. Stephen was born in Rawtenstall in 1947.
After living in Bacup, Rawtenstall and then Melling (near Liverpool) the family came to Accrington. Stephen attended Peel Park and then Hyndburn Park School.
He started his working life at John Collier’s (the window to watch), Accrington. He later worked at both Boundary and Barden Mill.
He was a keen supporter of Burnley Football Club and Accrington Cricket Club. A celebration of his life will take place at Accrington Crematorium on Friday, October 18 at 11am and afterwards at The Peel Park Hotel, Accrington.

Kathleen Bolton
Kathleen Bolton, of Oswaldtwistle, passed away on September 29, aged 81 years.
Kathleen was a team leader at Rists Wires and Cables, Oswaldtwistle. She was an avid camper and was a member of the Ribbledale Branch of British Caravanners Club.
She enjoyed dressmaking, rescuing red setters, shopping, picnics and worldwide travel. Kathleen leaves behind her husband Barry, daughter Julie, son-in-law Derek, brother Peter, sister-in-law Sheila based in Australia, niece Hilary and husband Andrew in Isle of Man and cousin Barbara and family.
A service will be held on Thursday, October 24 at Accrington Crematorium at 3pm, conducted by Neil Overton. Family flowers only, donations to Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Tony Kaye
On Wednesday, October 2, Tony Kaye, of Poplar Close, Oswaldtwistle, passed away peacefully in the Royal Blackburn Hospital surrounded by his loving family, aged 77 years.
The dearly loved husband of Anne, much-loved dad of Louise and Michael, loving father-in-law of Iain and Emma and a cherished grandad of Gemma, Ryan, Daniel, Thomas, Noah, Winter and Jasper and a great-grandad of Blake, Jaxon and Hadley. Also a dear brother and brother-in-law.
Tony worked at Lancashire Shopfitters for many years. He was a member of Green Haworth Golf Club, Accrington.
A requiem mass will be held on Friday, October 18 at St Mary’s R.C. Church, Oswaldtwistle, Accrington at 1pm, celebrated by his brother-in-law FR John Broadley followed by creamtion at Accrington crematorium.

Joan Mullen
Joan Mullen, of Foxhill Terrace, Oswaldtwistle, died suddenly but peacefully at home, on Sunday, October 6, aged 83 years.
At the age of 16, Joan worked at Elmfield Manufacturing Cotton Mill. In later life she worked as a school domestic assistant at Rhyddings High School, with her final workplace being at Brockhall Hospital as a ward domestic assistant, before taking early retirement.
At the age of 16 she met John Rex Mullen at Oswaldtwistle Mills, a year later, aged 17, she got engaged, and then got married at aged 19, on Christmas Eve in 1960, at St Andrews Church, on Russia Street in Accrington, whilst John was doing his national service. The couple also lived in Nigeria between 1964 and 1972.
In her spare time and during her retirement she loved watching TV, especially cooking programmes, in particular Rick Stein. She also loved her cats, but never had one of her own. She also liked listening to music with Matt Monro being her favourite singer.
Joan sadly leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, John Rex, her much loved daughters Janet and Barbara, sons-in-law Roy and Glyn, her treasured only granddaughter Ashleigh and her husband James, her cherished great-grandchildren, Eliza, Arthur and Clementine, also her dear sister Mavis and many nieces and nephews.
Joan will be very sadly missed by all her loving family and friends. A celebration of life service will be held at 3pm on Friday, October 18, at Accrington Crematorium.

Ann Waring
Ann Waring, of High Street, Oswaldtwistle, died peacefully at home, on Sunday, October 6, aged 73 years.
During her life Ann worked at Philips in Simonstone for many years and made lifelong friends along the way until she was made redundant. After this, she changed her vocation and studied Horticulture at Mysercough College, gaining a BSc and BA Hons.
She then went on to work in various garden centres building her vast knowledge of plants before teaching for many years at Shuttleworth College in Bedfordshire until she retired. In her spare time Ann’s passion was gardening, as well as travelling and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was the Chairperson of the Institute of Horticulture Eastern Branch and was also the organiser of the Young Horticulturist of the Year nationwide competition. She also loved browsing round the charity shops looking for a bargain.
Ann sadly leaves behind her dearly loved husband Jim, her much loved daughter Martina and her husband Luke and her treasured grandchildren Keira, Rory and Jay. Ann will be very sadly missed by all her loving family and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10am, on Friday, October 25, in the chapel at Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, Oswaldtwistle, prior to interment at Dill Hall Cemetery. Alan Pilkington
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Alan Pilkington, aged 77, who passed away peacefully in hospital surrounded by his loving family.
The dearly beloved husband to the late Pauline, much loved dad to Karen, Lee and Lisa and son-in-law Chris. Alan also leaves grandchildren Ashleigh, Bailey, Zachery, Georgia, and great-grandchild Ruben, all who miss him dearly, as well as many family and friends.
Alan worked for many years as a skilled machine operator at Howard and Bulloughs which later became Platt Saco Lowell. After the company closed, Alan worked for Calendar Aeropart before retiring.
An avid football fan, Alan was heavily involved in local football, playing for the likes of Altham and Whinney Hill as well as managing Accrington Stanley reserves. After hanging up his boots Alan loved to watch his grandchildren play football whenever he could.
He was also an excellent musician despite never having a single lesson, finding delight in playing the keyboard and
singing to family and friends.
Throughout his life Alan enjoyed many holidays, travelling far and wide with his wife Pauline and family and friends. He had a fantastic sense of humour and carried it with him in everything that he did.
He has left a lasting memory and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Alan’s funeral was held on October 11 at Accrington Crematorium and afterwards at The Crown, Accrington.
