  • Hyundai released a new teaser photo of the upcoming Ioniq 9 SUV ahead of its reveal at next week's LA auto show.

  • The teaser displays a sketch of the Ioniq 9's interior which the brand describes as "lounge-like."

  • The Ioniq 9 will be the production version of the previously shown Seven concept car and will be Hyundai's version of the Kia EV9 electric three-row SUV.

Hyundai is gearing up to join Kia in offering an electric three-row SUV. More than a year after Kia launched the $56,395 EV9, Hyundai is preparing to debut its alternative in the form of the Ioniq 9. In anticipation of that reveal which will take place at next week's Los Angeles auto show, Hyundai released two teaser sketches of the Ioniq 9 showing off a swoopy silhouette and the "lounge-like" interior.

The Ioniq 9 draws its lineage back to the Seven concept first shown in 2021, and from what we can see in the first teaser image, it looks to have maintained much of the original's design. The addition of the Ioniq 9 to Hyundai's lineup will give the brand an electric three-row-SUV alternative to the already popular gasoline-powered Palisade.

The 9 will ride on the same E-GMP platform that underpins Hyundai's other electric models as well as Kia's EV6 and EV9. Because of that, we expect the new Hyundai will share most of its statistics with the Kia EV9. That model can be outfitted as rear- or all-wheel drive and ranges from 230 miles of range on the low end to 304 miles for extended-range trims. From a power perspective, the EV9 ranges from 201 horsepower with the Light Long Range to 379 horsepower in dual-motor versions.

We'll have to wait until much closer to the actual arrival date of the car, but expect the Ioniq to be priced around $50,000. With the car being debuted next week, we expect it to go on sale in the United States at some point in 2025.
