i newspaper pulls controversial cover image following outraged response
The i newspaper has bowed to criticism and ditched its controversial cover image of the lower leg of one of yesterday’s terror attack victims.
So strong was the disapproval of the image that i editor Oliver Duff opted to swap it for a picture of hero MP Tobias Ellwood.
Someone at @theipaper actually thought this was an appropriate front page. They've now pulled it due to complaints. pic.twitter.com/pwgH6RsulG

Mr Duff admits: “The first take of [today’s] front page was more shocking – it showed the shoe and lower leg of one of the victims injured on Westminster Bridge, some blood, and nothing else in shot.
“It was stark, horrible, and certainly didn’t sanitise the news. It was also divisive, and we got criticised when it went out on social media earlier this evening.”

Mr Duff promptly took the criticism on board and chose a replacement, admitting he regretted the original choice.
He said: “The front page should carry a story – not be a story – and it is better to reflect on people’s views, change and apologise, than to repent at leisure.
“I regret it: we never look to gratuitously shock or offend, and generally try to protect readers from horrors around the world. Thank you, then, to those who messaged us pointing out the poor judgement.”
