Iain Duncan Smith rapped Eminem to mock Diane Abbot on Good Morning Britain and it was glorious
It isn’t very often that Piers Morgan finds himself lost for words.
The Good Morning Britain host was joined on the ITV show by Iain Duncan Smith earlier today and couldn’t believe his ears when the former Secretary of State for Work and Pensions rapped Eminem’s hit track Lose Yourself.
Can you imagine Mr Duncan Smith with his head bowed and swaying from side to as he’s spitting lyrics and throwing his hands in the air?
You can now, and it is glorious.
Iain and Labour MP Chuka Umunna appeared on the breakfast show to speak about the General Election and during the adverts, they got onto the subject of Diane Abbott’s disastrous interview on LBC last week when she stuttered and stumbled over her words.
Lyrical maestro, Iain Duncan Smith, had a quick retort for Diane’s woes and a stunned Piers admitted it was ‘one of the most iconic cultural moments I have probably ever experienced on this sofa.’
He told viewers: ‘Iain Duncan Smith is perhaps the last person you would expect to know this. He was talking about a message for Diane Abbott and began reciting Eminem lyrics.”
Chuka gleefully chimed in: ‘He was rapping!’
Somewhat embarrassed by his slip of the tongue, Iain said: ‘No, I wasn’t.’
And he moaned: ‘I only said that, because you were talking about Eminem earlier on, they are Lose Yourself lyrics for Diane Abbott!’
Then, nodding as he got in the flow, Iain recited the lyrics to GMB viewers and said: ‘He opens his mouth, but the words won’t come out. He’s choking, how everybody’s joking now. The clock’s run out.’
Our verdict? Iain Duncan Smith is down with the kids.
