Former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here contestant Iain Lee has said that he suffered ‘a touch of PTSD’ from his time on the show.

The presenter and radio DJ appeared on Good Morning Britain this morning to discuss his time on the series last year.

“I think I have yeah. People go ‘oh PTSD – go be a soldier’ but it’s such an intense, three-week, psychological battering that you take,” he told Susanna Reid.

During his time on the show, he underwent a number of horrifying eating tasks, including having to down scorpions, and camel and sheep brains, as well as ‘a bit of a lady pig that we probably shouldn’t mention on breakfast television’.

“The producers said ‘look if you want to throw up you can, people do’,” he recalled, “but I just couldn’t throw up so I felt sick all day.

“I had a Christmas dinner and I couldn’t enjoy it. I had a cheeseboard, I couldn’t touch the cheese board. It was awful, what a waste of food.”

Lee, who came third in the 2017 series and was a huge fan favourite, did struggle on the show, and often discussed his own battles with mental health, as well as revealing that he’d only signed up to help pay for his mother’s nursing care.

Viewers (and even celebrity pals) also rallied behind Lee when other campmates were accused of bullying him during the series.

However, he added that watching this latest series has also brought back some good memories as well as bad.

“I kind of miss it, I feel jealous of this lot,” he went on. “It’s like seeing your ex-girlfriend going out with Nick Knowles, and no-one wants to see that!”
