Love Island narrator Iain Stirling has dedicated the show’s latest Bafta nomination to its late presenter Caroline Flack.

The ITV2 dating series received a Bafta TV Craft nomination in the Entertainment Craft Team category on Thursday morning ahead of the ceremony next month.

The Love Island team will go up against Strictly Come Dancing, the BBC’s broadcast of Stormzy’s Glastonbury set and the Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Stirling wrote: “Delighted for everyone involved in the show that we’re up for another Bafta.

“On a personal note, to be named here and considered one of the team when all I do is talk into a microphone for a few hours has touched me more than anyone will ever know.

“Well done Love Island! Caroline - this one’s for you x.”

Flack, who presented the series from 2015 to 2019, died at the age of 40 in February after taking her own life.

Stirling, whose girlfriend Laura Whitmore replaced Flack as the show’s presenter in 2020, marked the death of his friend and colleague with a touching voiceover tribute on the show.

“Caroline and me were together from the very start of Love Island, and her passion, warmth and enthusiasm were what connected the show with millions of viewers,” he said.

“My only hope is that we can try and be kinder, always show love and try to listen to one another.

“Caroline, I want to thank you for all the fun times we had making our favourite show. You meant everything to me. I’m gonna miss you, Caz.”

The summer series of Love Island 2020 has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, with ITV promising to bring back the show in 2021.
