Ian Wright said that he is working on becoming more patient as he became the fifth I'm A Celebrity campmate to leave the jungle.

The former footballer and Match of the Day pundit was voted off the reality show during Wednesday night's episode, following the departures of James Haskell, Cliff Parisi, Andrew Maxwell and Adele Roberts.

Speaking to presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly after departing the camp, Ian said he has learned that he has "got to be a little bit calmer" during his stint on the show after he became frustrated when he failed to succeed in the Bushtucker trials.

"I lose it too quickly," he said.

"It was more a mental thing, i found that the mental side of me, I've got a lot to work on it," he added, after revealing that he felt it was the right time for him to leave as he was "not positive enough" to lift the mood of other campmates.

He admitted that some of his frustrations during the tasks stemmed from feeling like he had let his team down.

"Every time you didn't get a star, you felt like you let somebody down," he said. "Since I was young I always felt like I had to achieve even more, I always felt like I was catching up."

He added that playing golf usually "helps with [the] anger," on the advice of a counsellor.

Ian, who previously clashed with comedian Andrew in disagreements over food, praised James for supporting him in the camp, describing the former rugby star as "a massive help."

After walking the famous rope bridge out of the camp, he embraced wife Nancy Hallam, and said it was "amazing" to be reunited with her.

"I cannot ever be [apart from her] for that long again," he later told Extra Camp host Adam Thomas.

I'm A Celebrity... continues at 9pm on ITV.
